THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE STOCKHOLM PROGRAMME
The STOCKHOLM programme is the guiding line for the European Union actions over the 5 oncoming years.
The European Commission has now published its action plan for the implementation of this programme. The setup of this area of freedom, security and justice wished for by the European Union for the benefit of European citizens will lead lawyers to commit to the success of such a programme.
The issues outlined by the European Commission are perfectly consistent with our action and our ambitions. What is at stake is to ensure the safeguard of the citizens’ fundamental rights, which are set out in the Fundamental Rights Charter.
The goal is also to reinforce confidence in the European judicial space. This confidence between magistrates, law professionals, businesses and citizens can exist.
The Commission has implemented a real strategy.
Lawyers must be present to promote these European values, which are also our own.
