The BRAK celebrated its 50th anniversary at Berlin on 10th September 2009. The President of the BRAK, Axel C. FILGES, gave an important speech.
A conference has taken place with the theme of “The Rule of Law, a lawyer’s business”. This lecture brought together members of the German Bar, Judges and many foreign lawyers and other invited guests. It was an outstanding conference, which brought us up to date with “l’Etat de Droit” (the Rule of Law) in the world but also compared the different systems (Common Law and Continental Law). The BRAK also distributed its brochure "Law in Germania", an important document which should be read and absorbed.
As President of the European Bars Federation, I had to speak before a panel consisting of English, Italian, Austria and Russian delegates.
