GENERAL CONGRESS – Paris, 18-20 March 2021

Dear President, Dear Colleague,

First of all we hope you are all keeping safe and healthy during this complex period.

The Covid-19 pandemic continues to spread seriously around Europe and in particular in France where the positivity rate is still increasing. Therefore, much to our regret, we have to inform you that due to this global sanitary situation, the Barreau de Paris and the Presidency of the FBE  have decided to postpone our General Congress, which was scheduled for 1-3 October, to March 18-20, 2021.

However, we are pleased to let you know that we shall be organising an on-line Webinar on Thursday 1st October 2020 between 10 AM and 1 PM,  which will focus on the current situation of the Legal Profession in Turkey.

We would also like to inform you that the official mandates of the Presidency will be prolonged until the next General Assembly takes place, that is to say on March 20th. Thus, the current mandates of the Presidency remain  “in office” until this mentioned date, as it is stated in the statutes in exceptional situations.

The FBE will continue to work tirelessly for the benefit of our Bar members and keep the lines of communication open during these challenging and difficult  times.

If we keep on working as a strong, united and independent legal profession, we will get through this.

If you have urgent topics you would like to put on the Agenda, we would be grateful if you could address them to us at the latest on Monday 21st September.

With my best regards.

Silvia Giménez-Salinas

President of the European Bars Federation
