We would be delighted to welcome your members to the FBE Young Lawyers Human Rights Oratory Competition.
It will be held in Cologne from 22 to 24th October.
All candidates will be welcomed at a reception on Thursday 22nd October by the Cologne Bar Association.
Every law society or bar association which is a member of the FBE is eligible to send 2 candidates in the competition. Candidates must be under 35 years of age, and up to 5 years qualified, and can include law students.
The competition is in 2 parts.
Part 1 each candidate speaks for 10 minutes on the subject:
” Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation (SLAPP) is a 21st Century instrument of law. What does this mean for the future of the legal profession.?”
Part 2 continues all day on Friday 23rd October.
The top 4 candidates judged by the panel of distinguished members of the FBE, go on to Part 2 held on the morning of 24th October.
The results are declared, trophies and certificates are presented at the end of the morning, followed by lunch and the end of the competition.
Please publicise the competition and call for expressions of interest from JLD members as soon as possible, and by 31st August at the latest. If there are more than 2 members interested then you should hold heats to choose the best 2 candidates to represent your bar association.
